What Breast Problems Can be Fixed with Breast Surgery?
When you think of breast surgery, breast implants likely are what comes to mind, but there are a variety of breast procedures that go far beyond enhancement. Our triple-board-certified cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Victoria Karlinsky, understands firsthand the changes a woman’s breasts go through. From menses to pregnancy to menopause, your breasts are continually fluctuating, and many women experience breast problems that require cosmetic or reconstructive surgery.
Some of the breast concerns or conditions that can be fixed with breast surgery include:
Inverted Nipples
The Top 5 Cosmetic Surgeries in 2018
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recently released the 2018 statistics for cosmetic procedures in the United States, which totals 17.7 million. Minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures such as dermal fillers and chemical peels make up the bulk of that number with 15.9 million treatments in 2018, with the remaining 1.8 million being cosmetic surgical procedures. The top five cosmetic surgeries in 2018 include:
1. Breast Augmentation
There were 313,735 breast augmentation procedures in 2018. This cosmetic surgery enhances breast size with saline or silicone breast implants or the newer, fat transfer method that utilizes fat from another area of your body. Women often choose breast augmentation to correct congenital conditions such as breast asymmetry and tuberous breasts or to increase their self-esteem and body confidence.
2. Liposuction
Lipo can contour nearly every area of your body from addressing a double chin to getting rid of the dreaded “love handles.” Liposuction can also be utilized for male breast reduction to address gynecomastia (enlarged male breasts) as well as collecting fat deposits for the Brazilian Butt Lift and fat transfer breast augmentation. At Westchester Surgical Arts, we offer traditional liposuction, Lunchtime Lipo, and Tickle Lipo. There were 258,558 liposuction procedures in 2018.
3. Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)
Commonly referred to as a “nose job,” the rhinoplasty surgically alters the size and/or shape of the nose for medical or cosmetic reasons. This includes narrowing or widening the nostrils, addressing a bump on the bridge of the nose, and correcting a crooked nose. The rhinoplasty procedure can involve altering the bone in the upper portion of the nose, cartilage, and/or skin tissue. There were 213,780 rhinoplasties in 2018.
4. Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Blepharoplasty is performed for medical or cosmetic reasons and addresses drooping eyelids, which can impact your vision, making it difficult to read, write, or drive. This face procedure may involve removing excess skin tissue, fat, and repositioning the muscles to restore taut eyelids. There were 206, 529 eyelid surgeries performed in 2018.
5. Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
The tummy tuck is a popular procedure among women and men. The full tummy tuck removes excess skin tissue and fat deposits from the upper and lower abdomen while also repositioning abdominal muscles that have stretched due to pregnancy or significant weight gain. The mini-abdominoplasty addresses excess skin tissue in the lower abdomen below the belly button. This body procedure is often combined with liposuction and breast surgery for a mommy makeover.

Cosmetic Surgeries We Offer
Dr. Victoria Karlinsky-Bellini is a triple board-certified surgeon who takes pride in helping men and women look and feel their best. The cosmetic surgeries we offer include:
Face Surgery
We offer the facelift procedure and minimally-invasive treatments to restore and rejuvenate the face. The facelift can address several issues and has come a long way since the “frozen look” associated with facelift results in the past. This face surgery focuses on restoring lost volume to the face, reducing deep folds, lines, and wrinkles, removing excess skin, and contouring the jowls (or double chin).
Breast Surgery
Breast augmentation is the most common cosmetic surgery in the United States. Hundreds of thousands have this breast surgery each year to increase the size and reshape the breasts using saline or silicone breast implants. Breast augmentation is often combined with a breast lift to provide the best results. We also offer breast reduction for women who struggle with large breasts and also men who have gynecomastia (enlarged male breasts).
Body Surgery
Body surgery encompasses a variety of cosmetic surgeries designed to reshape or restore an area with unwanted fat or loose, sagging skin. These procedures include:
- Liposuction: We offer traditional liposuction as well as Lunchtime Lipo and Tickle Lipo which are less invasive fat removal methods. Liposuction can remove unwanted fat cells from many areas from the neck and chin to the calves. The removed fat cells are gone for good, but you can still gain weight in other areas. Lipo is not a weight loss solution nor does it address cellulite.
- Body Contouring: Body contouring includes the thigh lift, arm lift, body lift, and the Brazilian Butt Lift. These procedures remove excess skin and residual fat to reposition and reshape troublesome areas. The Brazilian Butt Lift is a unique procedure as it uses fat transferred from another area of your body to increase the size and contour the buttocks.
- Tummy Tuck: We offer the full abdominoplasty and the mini tummy tuck. The tummy tuck addresses loose abdominal muscles and excess skin tissue in the upper and lower abdomen, which is typically caused by childbearing or massive weight loss. The mini-abdominoplasty focuses on the lower abdomen beneath the belly button.
These body surgeries can be performed as standalone procedures or combined to address several cosmetic concerns at once such as the “mommy makeover,” which often involves liposuction, tummy tuck, and a breast surgery such as breast augmentation or breast lift.
