Victoria Karlinsky, MD, FACS
Westchester Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon
When you meet Dr. Victoria Karlinsky for the first time, you are immediately taken with how stunning she is, but upon closer exploration you start to see something much more profound–a self-made woman and highly trained cosmetic surgeon with a tremendous story of overcoming one’s circumstances. Victoria, as she prefers to be called, immigrated to the US from Russia when she was just 13. “Life was not easy then,” she says, “we had to build our life from scratch.” Tough times did not, however, dampen Dr. Karlinsky’s drive or her family’s belief in higher education, not as a maybe, but as an essential ingredient for a successful life. She worked jobs from the age of 14 to 22, until she entered medical school. Today, she has two passions: her work and her family – husband Gabriele and her two young sons.
“My husband Gabriele and I opened our practice in 2009–he as the practice manager and me as the surgeon. Believe me, it took a lot of bravery to break into the New York cosmetic market.”
Dr. Karlinsky says, “We knew we had something unique to offer even in such an upscale city where expectations are so high. We created a boutique practice – one that gives truly individual attention to every person who walks through our doors. For my patients, I do every consult, every surgery, every injectable. She emphasizes, “I never leave the room or turn the procedure over to anyone. It was the way I was trained by my mentor, Dr. Howard Tobin. My patients know they will start and finish with me and that I am always available 24/7 via my private cell phone.” She provides personalized care to each patient.
“My specialties are breast augmentation and lifts; tummy tucks; and arm and body lifts.”
Dr. Karlinsky is also highly skilled in facial procedures including facelifts, brow lifts, eyelid surgery, lip enhancements and ear surgery. As one of New York’s leading female cosmetic surgeons, Dr. Karlinsky brings her compassionate approach and individualized care to each situation – identifying with her patients’ needs and doing everything in her power to meet them.
“I only make promises I can fulfill.” “There are times when I decline to do surgery or some other procedure. For instance, if a woman wants very large breast implants, but her anatomy will not allow a successful outcome, I have to say no. On the other hand, after a careful consult, asking lots of questions, and doing a physical examination, if I believe I can achieve the results the patients wants, I am excited to start the process.” Dr. Karlinsky does every surgery or procedure precisely – with what she calls an obsessive attention to detail. “It’s just who I am – a totally results-oriented, organized person.” Importantly, the patient’s safety and lifestyle come first. Dr. Karlinsky does not do surgeries that last more than four hours and none that require more than a week’s recuperation. “New Yorkers simply can’t afford too much downtime, and I respect that.”
“I work hard to help people realize their dreams. We are in the business of making people happy.”
Dr. Karlinsky works with patients from their teens to those in their 60’s. She says there is no age when people stop dreaming or wanting to better their lives. Having had plastic surgery herself, she knows what effect it can have and what it can do for a person’s self- confidence and view of the world. Something that is paramount for Dr. Karlinsky is that every member of her staff treats her patients “like kings and queens.” “People come to us,” she says, “because there is something they don’t like about themselves. We need to be as supportive and caring as possible. When a patient says ‘this is the best money I’ve ever spent,’ I know I’ve done my job.”
“My education and training set me up for success. I was so fortunate to have experienced the best.”
Dr. Karlinsky obtained her bachelor’s degree from Hunter College City University in New York City and her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, concentrating on Cosmetic and Aesthetic Surgery. She completed her residency training at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, graduating with distinction as Chief Resident of the Year and recipient of the Leon Ginsburg Award.
Dr. Karlinsky completed her Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship at the Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgical Center in Abilene, Texas under Dr. Howard A. Tobin, M.D., F.A.C.S., a dedicated teacher who conducts this Fellowship Training as well as serving on the faculty of the University of Texas – Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He is well known for the many live surgery workshops at his Center. Doctors from throughout the world have come to Abilene to attend and learn from him. Where did this extraordinary fellowship lead? Passing rigorous review, Dr. Karlinsky was named a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons. She has earned Cosmetic Surgery Board Certification and is a Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
