How Is Cheek Augmentation Performed?
During your consultation with one of our board-certified cosmetic surgeons, you and your surgeon will decide on the size and shape of the implant that will be used to augment your midface contour.
Chin augmentation is an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia in one to two hours, depending on the extent of your needs and whether your cheek augmentation is being performed with another facial surgery.
A small incision will be made inside of the mouth to insert the implant over the cheekbone. This implant will be securely anchored to the bone within a created pocket. The incisions are closed with sutures.
Because the incisions are made within the mouth, there will be no visible scarring.
What Is My Cheek Augmentation Recovery Like?
While cheek augmentation is an outpatient procedure, you will need to arrange for transportation to and from our surgical center. Most cheek augmentation patients do not experience significant pain; however, there will be some soreness and numbness due to the swelling. Over-the-counter pain medication and a soft-food diet are recommended to ease comfort during the initial stages of your recovery.
Patients can usually return to work and light exercise after one week. While complications are rare, patients may develop bleeding, poor scarring, shifting of the implant, and infection.
