Brow Lift / Forehead Lift in Westchester, NY
Your eyes and forehead play a paramount role in determining your facial expressions and general appearance. A drooping, saggy brow makes you look tired or unhappy even when you are feeling your best.
A brow lift, which may also be referred to as a forehead lift, directly addresses these issues by reducing wrinkles, improving frown lines, and repositioning the brows to restore a refreshed, youthful appearance.
Am I a Candidate for a Brow Lift Procedure?
Men and women choose brow lift surgery to address fine lines and wrinkles along the forehead, sagging or asymmetrical eyebrows, or furrows between the brows.
Brow lift candidates should not smoke, be in good overall health, and have realistic expectations of their results. Any potential brow lift patients should stop all blood-thinning medications, as well as vitamins and herbs for at least 10 to 14 days before and after their surgery. Dr Karlinsky will provide a list of the types of products to be temporarily discontinued.
Some individuals who believe they need a brow lift may be better suited for additional facial surgery, such as eyelid surgery or facelift surgery. These procedures can often be performed in conjunction with brow lift surgery to provide full facial rejuvenation. Alternatively, some patients may better benefit from non-surgical treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® injections.
How Is a Brow Lift Performed?
Before your brow lift surgery, you will meet with Dr. Karlinsky for a one-on-one consultation where you will discuss your goals, current health, and medical history. Following an evaluation of your forehead region, Dr. Karlinsky will recommend a customized treatment plan that will help you achieve the most beautiful and natural-looking results.
Brow lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia for your comfort and safety.
An incision is made along your hairline where the tissues are lifted and then reattached to the bone structure, and the tightened skin is redraped. This technique not only raises drooping brows to their natural elevation, but restores smoothness and tightness to the forehead without looking unnatural.
Brow lift incisions are closed with removable or absorbable sutures, surgical tape, clips, or skin adhesives.
What Is My Brow Lift Recovery Like?
Brow lift surgery is an outpatient procedure, and you will return home soon after the anesthesia wears off. Recovery time usually varies depending on the individual as well as the extent of the lift performed.
Following your surgery, you may develop mild swelling and bruising, which should subside within a few weeks to reveal a smoother forehead and a more youthful appearance.
Sutures are generally removed within one week, and most patients are cleared to resume work and their normal daily activities.
To promote healing, make sure you follow your surgeon’s aftercare instructions and attend all follow-up appointments so that your surgeon can assess your recovery process and answer any questions or concerns.
Common risks of the procedure include unfavorable scarring, hair loss, bleeding, or infection.
What Results Can I Expect From My Brow Lift Procedure?
You will start to see the results of your brow lift soon after your surgery that will continue to improve over the following days, weeks, and months as the bruising and swelling subside.
You can expect to minimize the signs of aging, look younger, and feel better about the reflection you see in the mirror.
